Engineering FAQs
What is the Lifetime Command plan?
Lifetime Command is a one-time payment that gives you permanent access to StarkStack Pro and all future updates. It's for founders who want to build long-term with us and have a voice in the product direction.
Do I need to insert my own API keys (BYOK)?
Yes. StarkStack functions under a Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) architecture. You configure your own credentials for OpenRouter, Anthropic, OpenAI, or Gemini.
Your keys are stored locally and encrypted using your operating system's native hardware keyring (macOS Keychain, Windows Credential Manager, or Linux secret service) and never transit or get saved on our servers. With BYOK, you pay API providers directly for the exact wholesale cost of input/output tokens, with zero markups or third-party intermediary fees.
How do device activation limits work?
Every time you activate your license inside StarkStack Desktop, the runtime builds a deterministic and anonymous hardware identifier (SHA256 hash) based on your physical computer characteristics (CPU and motherboard physical ID).
The Pro plan allows you to activate up to 3 simultaneous devices, while the Lifetime plan extends this boundary to up to 5 active machines. If you upgrade your computer components or purchase a new machine, you can instantly revoke old devices and activate new ones autonomously from the StarkStack customer dashboard.
What models does StarkStack support?
StarkStack connects to OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, Mistral, and any local model running via Ollama or LM Studio. You bring your own API keys β we don't add markup.
Is there a free trial?
StarkStack is in early access. Reach out to us to get access to the beta.
Can I cancel my monthly subscription?
Yes. Cancel anytime from your account settings. You keep access until the end of your billing period.
